About Us:

We’re a dynamic Managing General Agent with the unique ability to ‘hold the pen’ for our insurer partners, allowing us to underwrite innovative products and schemes. We are successful at trading via our cutting-edge online platform but have recently extended our services to provide bespoke Underwriting solutions to our Broker partners.

We are looking for an additional person to join the newly established Trading Team, embrace the vision and focus on managing the renewal book.

The Role:

• Underwriter responsible for monitoring and reviewing the “schemes” renewal book
• Undertaking pre-renewal reviews and providing quotations in line with CE authority levels
• Identifying cross-selling opportunities
• Underwriting profitable business and contributing towards the maintenance of acceptable Loss ratios
• Implementing KPI’s for renewal retention
• Collaborating with colleagues and Key Account Managers to secure business
• Learn & adopt systems, product lines and internal procedures
• Handling any mid-term alterations to Insurance Policies
• Provide technical expertise for scheme business to Brokers and Internal Stakeholders
• Prospecting and Networking with designated Broker partners
• Identifying product enhancements and rating initiatives

Requirements:

• Cert CII or working towards
• Experience in Commercial Insurance – Property, Liability, Package Insurance

Working closely with the Head of Risk & Compliance, you will support the delivery of the departmental business plan in line with the company strategy, by leading the Risk and Compliance team to achieve departmental objectives.

Building effective relationships within the business to ensure that an effective compliance culture is in place, promoting positive engagement and behaviours within Commercial Express, leading by example as a role model.

Development and enhancement of compliance processes in accordance with market practice to meet regulatory expectations, setting up and monitoring adequate and appropriate systems and controls to ensure that the firm meets its regulatory requirements.

Leading on the development, implementation and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures.

Providing sound compliance advice to business stakeholders and escalating material compliance issues to the Head of Risk & Compliance on identification, with analysis of impact, criticality and remedial options.

Motivate your department to perform their duties to the highest level, achieve company KPI’s and Objectives by ensuring your teams are performing in line with agreed targets.

This role includes Line Management responsibilities.

Job Requirements:

• Background working in an insurance environment, preferably for an MGA or Broker dealing with delegated underwriting authorities
• Demonstratable experience working in a compliance or conduct role
• Good knowledge of FCA Rules and Regulations
• A proactive ‘can do’ and flexible attitude. Be able to recognise priorities at short notice
• Champions the compliance culture
• Adherence to FCA principles and act as a role model for the company, leading by example
• Experience in people management, driving staff to achieve targets and goals,
• Managing change effectively
• Experienced in the use of all Microsoft Office applications to an intermediate level
• Good analytical, problem solving skills

We have a fantastic opportunity that would suit either an experienced Underwriter or someone with an established insurance or broking background to join our expanding team as a Liability Underwriter.

Ideal candidates will have an excellent working knowledge and understanding of Liability insurance.

In this role you will be negotiating terms, securing renewals, and processing MTA adjustments, alongside providing an exceptional service to our brokers.

You will have a comprehensive understanding of risk analysis, the ability to analyse data, and make informed decisions.

By effectively managing risk, our Underwriters plays a crucial role in contributing to the growth and retention strategy targets of our business.

Job Requirements:
