The Role:

As a key team member, you’ll focus on growing our trading team by handling larger and more complex property and casualty risks. Your responsibilities will include:

• Meeting growth targets for New Business and Renewals
• Developing broker and insurer accounts in line with our underwriting appetite
• Providing technical expertise for scheme business
• Collaborating with Key Account Managers to nurture broker relations

Requirements: We’re looking for candidates with:

• Cert CII or progress toward completion
• Solid experience in the commercial insurance industry
• Proven expertise in Property and Casualty underwriting
• A track record of achieving targets
• Flexibility, resilience, and strong communication skills

Working closely with the Head of Risk & Compliance, you will support the delivery of the departmental business plan in line with the company strategy, by leading the Risk and Compliance team to achieve departmental objectives.

Building effective relationships within the business to ensure that an effective compliance culture is in place, promoting positive engagement and behaviours within Commercial Express, leading by example as a role model.

Development and enhancement of compliance processes in accordance with market practice to meet regulatory expectations, setting up and monitoring adequate and appropriate systems and controls to ensure that the firm meets its regulatory requirements.

Leading on the development, implementation and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures.

Providing sound compliance advice to business stakeholders and escalating material compliance issues to the Head of Risk & Compliance on identification, with analysis of impact, criticality and remedial options.

Motivate your department to perform their duties to the highest level, achieve company KPI’s and Objectives by ensuring your teams are performing in line with agreed targets.

This role includes Line Management responsibilities.

Job Requirements:

• Background working in an insurance environment, preferably for an MGA or Broker dealing with delegated underwriting authorities
• Demonstratable experience working in a compliance or conduct role
• Good knowledge of FCA Rules and Regulations
• A proactive ‘can do’ and flexible attitude. Be able to recognise priorities at short notice
• Champions the compliance culture
• Adherence to FCA principles and act as a role model for the company, leading by example

Conduct Quality Assurance Audits within our Underwriting Services Department to monitor adherence to underwriting guidelines and licence authorities.

Conduct Quality Assurance Audits within other departments to assess service quality and adherence to internal processes.

Analyse the compliance standards being achieved by conducting Quality Assurance Audits and provide ongoing assurance of adherence to regulatory requirements.

Proactively identify areas for improvement where required and work with the business to implement remedial actions.

We have a fantastic opportunity that would suit either an experienced Underwriter or someone with an established insurance or broking background to join our expanding team as a Liability Underwriter.

Ideal candidates will have an excellent working knowledge and understanding of Liability insurance.

In this role you will be negotiating terms, securing renewals, and processing MTA adjustments, alongside providing an exceptional service to our brokers.

You will have a comprehensive understanding of risk analysis, the ability to analyse data, and make informed decisions.
