The system Journal is a record of all activity and communication in connection with the policy.

How Do I Find The Journal?:

You can enter via the system on the Retrieve Quotes and Policies page, where you will then be presented with the following options:

Select the policy you require and click Journal.

This will take you to the Journal page of the policy record.

The Journal allows you to see the status of any communication between yourselves and us. It allows you to see the current status of a referral, if we have replied and what questions we may have asked. The current required action you will notice is highlighted in blue. You can reply to us by clicking the Refer to CE button, which is also in blue, in order for the quote to progress.

Before contacting us, we recommend that you visit the Journal to understand the most recent position.

As shown in the example below, the journal will record the date of the communication, the type of communication and corresponding comments. The column titled Operator would show whether the entry was system-generated, or created by an underwriter, in which case the name of the underwriter from Commercial Express or username from the broker will be recorded in this column. This allows you to know who has handled that element of the policy, and who to contact if you need to.

You can also access the Journal from the Daybook by selecting the policy you require and clicking the ‘Journal’ button. However, the Daybook only shows up to 30 days worth of quotes and policies, so if your quote is older, you will need to go through the Retrieve Quotes and Policies section.
